To use Black Flash in Jujutsu Infinite, buy Focus Awaken in the Focus skill tree, fill a focus bar by damaging a player or NPC, then press M2/right-click followed by R when the diamond appears. You can also follow M2 with a compatible move highlighted in red. Successful Black Flashes award tokens above the focus meter; you do not need those tokens to perform your first Black Flash.
01
Unlock Black Flash through Focus Awaken
The starting requirement is the Focus Awaken node. The developer's Focus card says this unlock gives you three focus bars and access to Black Flash. If you have been copying the inputs without buying the node, return to the Focus tree and check this unlock before changing your approach.
Focus Awaken and Chanting are separate skill-tree purchases. You do not need to unlock Chanting to follow the documented Black Flash sequence. Likewise, buying a later Focus upgrade is a different progression decision from obtaining the initial Black Flash unlock.
Our practical recommendation is to learn the base input as soon as the unlock is available to your character. A larger focus capacity or additional passive can change a developed build, but understanding the starting sequence makes it easier to identify what a later node actually adds. For broader progression priorities, use the beginner guide.
02
Follow the keyboard and mouse sequence
The Black Flash and Chanting Guide documents the following keyboard and mouse flow. Read each step as part of one sequence: unlock the mechanic, supply focus, then use the prompted input. Right-click by itself is not the complete instruction.
| Step | Action | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Unlock | Buy Focus Awaken in the Focus tree. | The Black Flash unlock is available. |
| Build focus | Deal damage to a player or NPC. | A focus bar fills. |
| Begin | Press M2, meaning right-click. | Watch for the diamond cue. |
| Follow up | Press R when the diamond appears. | Follow the visible cue for the documented sequence. |
| Check the result | Look above the focus meter after a successful Black Flash. | Successful uses award tokens there. |
Use the on-screen diamond as your timing reference. The retained developer evidence does not establish a millisecond window, so this guide does not substitute a fixed delay for that cue. If you are learning the sequence, our recommendation is to concentrate on recognizing the diamond before trying to incorporate the input into a longer combat routine.
These are keyboard and mouse instructions. Mobile buttons and controller mappings were not documented in the reviewed evidence; translating M2 and R into assumed touchscreen positions would be unreliable.
03
Use red highlights for the compatible-move route
The developer guide also describes a second route: fill focus, press M2, and follow it with a red-highlighted compatible move. The red highlight is the documented compatibility signal. This does not mean that every move on your bar can become a Black Flash just because you used right-click first.
For learning, choose one route and watch its particular cue. With the R route, you are looking for the diamond; with the compatible-move route, you are checking for the red-highlighted move. Treating those instructions as interchangeable can make an unsuccessful attempt harder to diagnose.
Our recommendation is to establish the basic M2-to-R sequence first, then inspect the highlighted options available in your own setup. This is a learning order, not an additional game requirement. The evidence retained for this page does not provide a complete named roster of compatible moves, so the guide does not turn an unverified move list into a requirement.
04
Earn Black Flash tokens from successful uses
Black Flash tokens are the result of successful Black Flashes. The developer guide places them above the focus meter and explicitly distinguishes earning them from the requirements for performing the move. Having no tokens does not, by itself, explain why an initial attempt fails.
Keep the two displays separate when checking your setup. A focus bar is what you build before the documented input sequence, while the tokens are awarded after success. Seeing an empty token display should send you back to the unlock, focus bar, and input checks rather than into a search for a token item.
Certain Maximum Techniques consume Black Flash tokens. That makes the tokens relevant to later technique use, but it does not make every Maximum Technique's requirements identical. If you are progressing toward one of those abilities, read its own requirements alongside the Maximum Scroll guide; acquiring a scroll and supplying an ability's combat resources are separate checks.
05
Separate Black Flash from Chanting
Chanting shares part of the setup, which is why the two mechanics are easy to confuse. It requires the Chanting node in the Technique tree, then a filled focus bar, M2, and a compatible technique highlighted in purple. The Technique card describes Chanting as unlocking enhanced versions of compatible techniques.
| Mechanic | Unlock | Documented follow-up after M2 |
|---|---|---|
| Black Flash | Focus Awaken in the Focus tree | R at the diamond, or a red-highlighted compatible move |
| Chanting | Chanting in the Technique tree | A purple-highlighted compatible technique |
Check both the purchased node and the highlight color when choosing which mechanic to attempt. A purple-highlighted option belongs to the documented Chanting route, while the red highlight identifies the alternative Black Flash route. The shared use of focus and M2 does not remove those differences.
06
Check a failed attempt in order
Start with the earliest prerequisite you can verify instead of repeating the whole sequence without changing anything. The following checklist is an editorial troubleshooting order based on the documented steps. It does not diagnose a server or input issue from a distance.
- Confirm that you bought Focus Awaken in the Focus tree.
- Build a focus bar by dealing damage to a player or NPC.
- Use M2/right-click before the follow-up input.
- For the R route, watch for the diamond and use R at that cue.
- For the compatible-move route, check that the move is highlighted red.
- If you are using a purple-highlighted technique, check the separate Chanting unlock and sequence.
An empty token display is not a missing prerequisite. If these checks match your setup but the move still fails, the available documentation does not establish the cause. Avoid treating an invented timing value or an assumed platform binding as a confirmed fix.
07
Understand later Focus upgrades
The Focus tree continues beyond the initial unlock. Its later nodes expand focus capacity and add Black Flash damage, healing, and other passives. The developer card also identifies Sparks of Black as adding different M2 combinations and a Final Black Flash sequence.
Those additions give you a reason to revisit the tree after learning the base mechanic. They do not replace Focus Awaken as the documented entry point. This guide does not reproduce advanced combinations because the retained evidence does not specify their full inputs.
The developer cards were checked on October 26, 2026; these instructions were not tested in a game session. For a first successful attempt, keep your attention on the actionable flow: unlock Focus Awaken, build focus, use M2, and follow the diamond or red compatibility cue.
